You Don’t Know Me.

English Version

Smith / Kotzen is the 100% winning duo. A most exciting side-project between two talented musicians, guitarists and singer, Adrian Smith and Richie Kotzen.

Main Iron Maiden guitarist, Adrian Smith is also known for his solo albums. As for Richie Kotzen frontman of The Winery Dogs he was also the guitarist of Mr. Big and Poison. He is also renowned for his twenty solo albums.

Two very prolific artist / songwriters, but also two very respectful friends to each other. This duo of virtuosos is perfectly complementary, both passionate about Old School Classic Rock from the 70’s and Blues. What could be more natural than to unite their talents and compose songs together that are both energetic and catchy with infectious riffs.

In addition to the guitars and vocals, Adrian and Richie also share the bass parts. But other experienced musicians are also present on the album. We find Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) sitting behind the drums for Solar Fire, and for “You Don’t Know Me”, “I Wanna Stay” and “’Til Tomorrow” it’s drummer Tal Bergman (Billy Idol, Joe Bonamassa) which sticks to it. On the other five tracks, Ritchie Kotzen himself is the sticks master!

With such an edifying structure, the work of the two artists will therefore be built on a solid basis and illustrate itself with 9 very attractive chapters. It is also difficult not to fall into this sprawling trap of the most addicting. Each song contains a strong dose of unstoppable groove, varied but equally powerful hooks, bewitching harmonies and irresistible solos.

A synergy as intense guitaristically as vocally.

And you can feel it from the first track, Taking My Chances, with its huge groove. Roaring guitars, melodious vocals and fiery solo, this is the ideal start to ignite the hard rock spark of Running. Heavy and captivating rhythm, fiery solos. Adrien and Richie’s guitar playing combine to perfection.

Then opens the emotional Scars and its vibrant Blues Rock flame whose brilliance continues in Some People with a very contagious rhythm to Glory Road with more soulful vocals. A magnificent hymn which frees all the blues soul of the two artists.

After the emotion comes the explosion of Solar Fire. An energetic Hard Rock where Nicko McBrain releases all his ardor on the drums. Guitars and vocals ignite with a very infectious intensity before the ballad of You Don’t Know Me. A memorable « Slow » that makes you want to hug until the end of the night. And the carnal hold continues with Wanna Stay whose solos make you shiver with pleasure.

The duo closes the last chapter of Smith / Kotzen with a Til Tomorrow with fantastic harmonies. It is evident that Smith and Kotzen have a common DNA that inevitably shines throughout the album. But this musical feeling is even more marked in this last song, the most adequate to seal this amazing union.

Adrian and Richie have concocted a generous and most beneficial elixir that we never get tired of. Their international fame predisposed them to a successful album. When two sacred monsters unite, the result is daunting. Smith / Kotzen is a sensational sharing of ideas and instinctive emotions. Everything is in the feeling and these two Guitar heroes are in unison.

Richie’s US talent added to Adrian’s UK talent results in excellent SK. An emotional shock wave to listen to without moderation.
